Accepted that makes the whole thing slightly wider, but the bottom timber is more secure, and the bottom timber prevents the noggins from dropping out. WebDec 31, 2024 · Jon6838 Member. Hi folks, need some advice on the correct method of resting a beam/rsj onto a new build timber frame. I’m weighing up the pros and cons of doing my loft but I’m not clear on how it works when there’s no inner block wall to rest the steels on, just the timber frame. Any advice would be much appreciated, cheers.

The SE has calculated the loadings and specified the RSJ and padstone required. I could fit the RSJ directly below the existing wall plate, but I don't have the ceiling height for that.
